P.A.W.S Initiative

What is P.A.W.S.?

P.A.W.S. or Puppy Assisted Warrior Support is a program that pairs veterans with a service dog trainee. Over the course of several months the veteran will attend training classes with one of our trainees, teaching them an average of 20 to 30 different tasks or commands.

Many military veterans are returning home with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, and other mental health related challenges. These struggles are debilitating and really affect the lives of veterans nationwide. These dogs are trained to perform tasks like retrieving objects and interrupting nightmares to limit the anxiety of their owners, and to provide as much comfort as needed. Veterans are struggling everyday, and it’s our job to help as much and as quickly as possible. This program can help.
